NHL 25 PlayStation 5

In the latest edition of the NHL gaming franchise, players have expressed a mixed reception, showcasing a blend of admiration for the graphics and enjoyment of gameplay, alongside a longing for features that have seemingly been lost over the years. Many long-time fans, some of whom have been playing since as far back as 1997, appreciate the visual improvements that each iteration brings but are disappointed by the absence of certain immersive gameplay elements that were once staples. Players have noted the lack of pregame immersion, which they argue detracts from the overall gaming experience—features like showcasing the arena and player stats prior to the game have been replaced with a more simplistic loading process. This absence of atmosphere makes some players feel less connected to the game, robbing them of what they describe as a "real game on TV" feel. Additionally, nostalgic fans miss the endgame "three stars" feature, where standout players would take a moment to acknowledge the crowd, a touch that added a special conclusion to matches. On the customization front, while there are numerous jerseys available, the lack of some iconic alternate jerseys, like the Boston Bruins’ yellow "pooh bear" and LA Kings’ "burger king" designs from the 90s, leaves enthusiasts perplexed and wanting. The nostalgia for these missing elements is palpable, and although players acknowledge that some of these concerns may seem minor in the grand scheme, the sentiments reflect a desire for a more comprehensive representation of hockey culture within the game. Despite these grievances, players continue to enjoy the core elements of gameplay, though issues like the non-adjustable no-trade clauses in dynasty mode have marred the experience for some. Overall, the latest NHL game seems to satisfy visually and functionally, yet many players yearn for a return to the depth and immersive features they once cherished. **
