Question:
Can I use this paint for a fiberglass canoe that will be in the water?
Answer: Yes, it should be fine. Brush and foam roller. Paint it out of the sun, work a small area at a time and move to the next, keeping a wet edge. That way the paint will level out. I would do all the cutting in (brush work) first and let that dry thoroughly then go back in with the foam roller and you can move fast keeping a wet edge. Should look beautiful. -
Question:
Is Rustoleum Hammered paint a good primer for a wooden play set?
Answer: Yes, I believe it would be. I used it to cover some teak wood and top coated with marine paint. It has good adhesion. -
Question:
When should I pull off the masking tape after painting the flat sides of my fiberglass paddleboard?
Answer: It depends on the type of masking tape. If it is standard yellow tape, it's better to remove it sooner. If sun shines on it, you may never get it off. Blue tape can be removed when the paint is dry, maybe on the same day. Green tape can be removed after a few days. In my experience, blue tape works well when the paint is still tacky. If you wait for the paint to dry, it might stick to the tape and peel. If you are painting the top side, try to paint during a wind other than SW or W. The paint will stick better if you prime first. -

Can this product be used as a top coat on houseboat decking?
Answer: It could be used as a top coat, but topside paint would be a better finish. Also, if you use topside paint for decks, be mindful that it is very slick when wet. If your decks are already textured, then that would be a non-issue. However, if they are smooth decks, it might be worth looking at textured deck paint as an alternative. Happy boating! -

Is this product sprayable?
Answer: Yes, it is sprayable. It can be thinned with xylene and used with a cheap HVLP spray gun for both the primer and topcoat. It turned out really nice when used to paint a fiberglass poptop on a VW camper. -
Question:
Can this primer be used to coat a fiberglass extension ladder for protection?
Answer: No, this is a light grey primer that works great on bare fiberglass and other surfaces. It is not a clear coat. I would recommend using a top coat of any color you want. -

Can this primer be applied on plastic shower walls?
Answer: Yes, it can be applied on plastic shower walls. -
Question:
Will this primer work on pressure-treated plywood?
Answer: I'm not sure if there will be a reaction between the chemicals in the wood and the primer, but my guess is that if the pressure-treated plywood is dry, the primer will work. -
Question:
I want to paint my fiberglass horse trailer roof which has small pin holes. Will this primer seal the holes?
Answer: No, this primer is not made to fill holes. I would suggest using two-part fiberglass resin to seal the holes. After it cures completely, sand it and then paint it. This paint adheres well to sanded resin. -
Question:
Can I use other types of exterior paint to paint an old fiberglass boat for use as a play structure?
Answer: Yes, any quality oil-based paint should work fine for your playground as long as it's not in water. Marine paint is designed for continuous exposure to a marine environment on wood and fiberglass.
