Customer Questions & Answers
-
Question:
Where is it made?
Answer: I just went to check. There are no markings on this speaker at all. They work great for my Yaesu FT-7900R. 73, KK4TIX -
Question:
will this work with a cobra 75?
Answer: I think so, on the last Cobra 75 I had there was a jack for an external speaker on the hide-a-way part (the metal box with the antenna jack) of the transceiver. -
Question:
How long is the cable?
Answer: If I recal correctly, it may have been 3ft long. Not long enough for my purposes. I simply purchased an extender to make up for the deficite. -
Question:
I have a kenwood speaker mic i use with my uv-5r, will this work with my mic if i get an adaptor for it?
Answer: The radio has an RJ45 female connector for the OEM microphone. I don't know if there is compatible adapter to your microphone. I suppose you could make your own adapter if you could locate the pin out diagram. It's a great radio for the price even with the OEM microphone. Good luck. -
Question:
This is the interior speaker for conversations correct not the pa speaker for speaking out of the vehicle?
Answer: This is not a PA speaker. It is used as an external speaker for a radio that has an internal speaker and a speaker jack for an external speaker. You plug this speaker into the external speaker jack of the radio. -
Question:
Does it have its own power source or device driven?
Answer: Device Driven, There is No 12 Volt Connection. Good Speaker I have two now I am using and they are about $10.00 less expensive than my other speakers I use. -
Question:
How long is the cord?
Answer: The cord on my speaker is approximately 6 feet long. -
Question:
Is it amplified and/or noise cancelling?
Answer: No. But I like it as a communications speaker because of the way it shapes the sound to really help me to understand voice. -
Question:
Audio output power?
Answer: It’s louder than the internal speaker in my CB, but I wouldn’t say it’s super loud. The nicest thing is it moves the sounds closer to where you want it to be. I’d say it has decent output for the price.
ZAXIDALER Editorial Review
The Rectangular External Communications Speaker is a popular choice for ham radio, CB, and scanners. While some customers have complained about low volume and lack of amplification, others have found it to be a good, inexpensive option. The speaker provides decent clarity and handles volume well, making voices clearer and closer. It is also praised for its long cord and ease of installation.
