Special Education Editorial Review
Braille for the Sighted is a coursebook designed to teach contracted braille which is appropriate for both grades one and two. Readers will encounter a nicely formatted, well-structured book that provides exercises for honing the initially learned lesson and that also includes blank pages creating endless practice possibilities for pencils and pens. Although this book is enjoyable, the book has been criticized for containing information on German Braille instead of Unified English Braille (UEB). The punctuation braille has errors that will confuse the reader and makes supplemental resources required. As such, when using this book, be sure to look for other sources like UEB braille books or download the UEB braille PDF from reliable sources. This exercise book will not suffice as a standalone resource and should be obtained as a supplement to other resources.
