It is a bayonet dedicated lens hood shade that can replace the original version at a third of the cost. It fits securely and locks in place using a nice "click" mechanism. It can easily be flipped over for storage without removing the pinch cap. However, it is important to note that it does not fit the Canon RF 100-400mm lens despite being advertised as such.
