Product Details
- The Refresh R-9890 reduces chlorine taste and odor and is WQA certified to NSF/ANSI 42, and each filter lasts 300 gallons or 6 months. Filtered water is the reason you chose a refrigerator with a dispenser, and a spent cartridge quietly lets chlorine taste, odor and sediment back into every glass and every batch of ice. The Refresh R-9890 is a replacement refrigerator water filter, sold here as a 1-pack, built to drop into the same housing as the original cartridge and restore clean, fresh-tasting water. The Refresh R-9890 is a compatible replacement for LT500P, 5231JA2002A, 5231JA2002A-S, 5231JA2002B, ADQ72910901. If the number printed on the cartridge you are removing matches any of these, this filter fits. The number on the old filter confirms the fit, not the brand badge on the refrigerator door, because refrigerator makers share cartridges across brands and model years. It fits refrigerator models including LSC27921SB, LFX25973SB, LFX25973ST, LFX25973SW, LFX25974SB, LFX25974ST, LFX25974SW, LMX25964SS, LMX25964ST, LRSC21934SB, LRSC21934SW, LRSC21934TT, LRSC21935SB, LRSC21935SW, LRSC21935TT, LRSC21951ST, LRSP2031BS, LRSPC2031BK, LRSPC2031BS, LRSPC2031NI, LRSPC2031T, LRSPC2031W, GEN11042FR, LFX21976ST, LFX25961AL, LRFD25850SB, LRSC26940SW, LSC27921ST. Model numbers often carry a trailing revision code, and all revisions of a listed base model take this filter. If your model is not listed, check the part number printed on the cartridge you are replacing. Inside is a coconut-shell activated carbon block. The cartridge is tested and certified by WQA to NSF/ANSI 42 for material safety and structural integrity and to NSF/ANSI 372 for lead-free compliance. The carbon block reduces chlorine taste, odor and sediment, while calcium, magnesium and potassium stay in your water so it tastes clean rather than flat. A high-flow core keeps dispenser pressure and ice-maker output steady across the life of the cartridge, so you are not waiting on a slow trickle to fill a glass. To remove the old filter, locate the filter housing using your refrigerator manual; it is usually inside the fresh-food compartment, in the upper corner, or behind the base grille. Place a towel underneath, then turn the old cartridge a quarter turn counter-clockwise, or press the release button if your housing has one, and pull it straight out. A small amount of water may drip as it comes free. To install the new filter, remove the protective cap, line the cartridge up with the housing, push it in fully and turn it clockwise until it locks, or push until it clicks on push-in housings. A complete seal is what stops drips. Do not overtighten. Before first use, dispense and discard three to four gallons of water, about three minutes, to flush air and loose carbon from the new cartridge, and throw away the first batch of ice. Cloudy first water is harmless carbon dust and air, and it clears within seconds. Then reset the filter indicator light as described in your refrigerator manual. Replace the cartridge every six months or after 300 gallons, whichever comes first. Change it sooner if your water is hard, heavy in sediment or of unknown quality, or if flow slows, the taste changes or the indicator light comes on early. A faster change interval in those conditions is the filter doing its job, not failing. This 1-pack covers 6 months of scheduled changes in one order. If water flow is weak after installation, check that the cartridge is fully seated and locked. If you see a drip, remove the cartridge and reinstall it squarely. If the dispenser sputters, keep flushing to clear trapped air. Store spare cartridges in a cool, dry place and never let them freeze. Install on cold water lines only. Do not use with water that is microbiologically unsafe or of unknown quality without adequate disinfection before or after the filter. All brand names and part numbers are the property of their respective owners and are used for compatibility reference only.
