Verizon Wireless UMW190 Global USB Modem/Mobile Phone

The Verizon Wireless UMW190 Global USB Modem has garnered mixed reviews, primarily revolving around its specialized use for customers who are adamant about retaining their unlimited wireless data plans with Verizon. For a subset of customers, particularly those who reside in rural areas with limited internet options, this modem serves as a reliable alternative to higher-cost 4G devices. Many users express satisfaction with the ease of installation and commend the compact size of the modem. On the positive side, some reviewers appreciate the functionality of the UMW190 in maintaining their unlimited data access, which is crucial for their internet needs. A few users reported successful usage, particularly for activities like video streaming, despite minor connectivity issues that sometimes arise. Conversely, the user experience is marred by specific frustrations related to modem compatibility and activation hurdles, particularly for those who have faced challenges in unlocking the device or dealing with customer service limitations. Feedback highlights a significant point of confusion regarding device compatibility and network locking. Several users felt misled about the product’s relationship with Verizon, facing issues that led to undesirable customer service experiences and unanticipated costs involving return shipping. These factors have led some customers to not recommend the modem, driven largely by difficulties in activating or unlocking it for broader use. In summary, while the Verizon Wireless UMW190 Global USB Modem is a functional tool for dedicated Verizon users seeking to maintain their unlimited data plans, potential buyers should be aware of its limitations and the necessity of navigating Verizon’s specific requirements. The overall experience is a mix of satisfaction for its primary users and disappointment from those facing issues. **
