Rated: R Format: Blu-ray Action & Adventure Editorial Review
In the world of action films, Steven Seagal's "Under Siege" series remains a crowd favorite, especially for those who appreciate the genre's heyday in the 90s. "Under Siege," the original film, is often celebrated as a standout entry, praised for its thrilling storyline and engaging characters. Critics and fans alike highlight the gripping tension and well-executed action sequences, with Seagal portraying a former Navy Seal turned cook who must combat a group of terrorists led by a charismatic Tommy Lee Jones. The film effectively balances straightforward yet compelling storytelling with impressive production values, including Oscar-nominated sound design. The sequel, "Under Siege 2: Dark Territory," while still providing adrenaline-pumping action, doesn't quite reach the heights of its predecessor. It features Seagal reprising his role, this time facing off against villains on a hijacked train. Although entertaining, the sequel suffers from a less compelling villain and a formulaic plot. However, it is still Considered a solid addition to the double feature package, making it a worthwhile purchase for fans of the franchise. Overall, this Blu-ray release offers a nostalgic trip back to an era when Seagal was a dominant force in action cinema. Despite varied opinion on the sequel, the package is perceived as good value for money, with most viewers appreciating the chance to revisit “Under Siege” and experience its thrilling escapades anew. **
