Customer Questions & Answers

  • Question: What is Tree Tanglefoot Tree Banding Gum used for?

Answer: Tree Tanglefoot Tree Banding Gum is primarily used to create a sticky barrier around trees, preventing pests such as insects and small mammals from climbing up. This long-lasting adhesive formula effectively traps pests, helping to protect your trees from harmful infestations. It's particularly useful for fruit trees where protecting the harvest is crucial. By applying this banding gum, you can ensure that your plants can thrive without the threat of pest damage.
  • Question: How do I apply Tree Tanglefoot Tree Banding Gum?

Answer: To apply Tree Tanglefoot, clean the area around the tree trunk and then firmly apply the gum in a band around the trunk. Ensure that the band is positioned at a height where pests are likely to climb. For best results, the band should be at least 6-12 inches wide. This method creates an effective barrier for climbing insects and prevents them from reaching the foliage. Regularly check the adhesion to maintain the barrier's effectiveness throughout the growing season.
  • Question: Is Tree Tanglefoot Tree Banding Gum weather-resistant?

Answer: Yes, Tree Tanglefoot Tree Banding Gum is designed to be weather-resistant. Its formulation allows it to withstand various environmental conditions, ensuring that the sticky barrier remains effective even in rain or snow. This durability is crucial, as it means you won’t need to frequently reapply the product during wet conditions, providing a consistent protection layer for your trees year-round. This feature makes it suitable for use in diverse climates.
  • Question: Is Tree Tanglefoot Tree Banding Gum safe for the environment?

Answer: Tree Tanglefoot Tree Banding Gum is typically considered safe for the environment when used as directed. It is non-toxic and does not contain harmful chemicals that can affect wildlife or beneficial insects. It’s ideal for organic gardening practices where environmental impact is a concern. However, it is advisable to avoid direct application on non-target species and to monitor its usage to ensure it aligns with your eco-friendly gardening goals.
  • Question: Can I use Tree Tanglefoot on all types of trees?

Answer: Tree Tanglefoot Tree Banding Gum is suitable for a variety of trees, particularly fruit-bearing and ornamental trees. It can effectively protect species like apple, peach, and cherry trees from pests. However, it is essential to identify your tree type since some trees may have specific sensitivities. Always test a small area before applying it broadly to ensure compatibility with your particular species.
  • Question: How long does Tree Tanglefoot Tree Banding Gum last?

Answer: The longevity of Tree Tanglefoot Tree Banding Gum typically depends on environmental conditions and the specific application method. Generally, the product can last weeks to a few months when properly applied. Factors such as rain, snow, and exposure to sunlight can influence its lifespan. Regularly checking the banding gum will allow you to determine if reapplication is necessary, ensuring ongoing protection for your trees against pests.
  • Question: Can Tree Tanglefoot Tree Banding Gum be removed easily?

Answer: Yes, Tree Tanglefoot Tree Banding Gum can be removed relatively easily when the protective layer is no longer needed. You can use a cloth or scraper to gently peel off the gum from the tree trunk without causing damage. It’s best to remove the gum at the end of the season or when conditions change, allowing the tree to remain healthy during dormancy and preventing any residue buildup that may harm the bark.
  • Question: What is the best way to store Tree Tanglefoot Tree Banding Gum?

Answer: To maximize the effectiveness of Tree Tanglefoot Tree Banding Gum, store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Make sure the cap is tightly sealed to prevent the gum from drying out. Proper storage will ensure that the product remains usable for future applications, maintaining its adhesive properties. This way, you can always have it on hand during peak pest seasons, ensuring your trees stay protected.
