The chuck for this device is attached using a press fit method, meaning the chuck should be tapped onto the shaft using a copper or brass hammer or a steel hammer with a block of hard wood to prevent damage to the chuck. It is important to thoroughly clean the shaft and hole with lacquer thinner or acetone before attaching the chuck to prevent damage. The machine can accommodate boards up to 4.5 inches in height and a max depth of 3 inches from drill center to fence. With the fence removed, there is a depth of 5.5 inches. While the instructions provided are not helpful, the machine is relatively easy to assemble. Users may have to figure out how to put the machine together, but once assembly is complete, the machine works great as intended.
