  • Question: Is this bow string wax necessary for the Banshee Barnett Youth Quad Compound Bow?

    Answer: Bow string wax is needed to help keep the string from fraying. Usually you wax the string after a session. You apply the wax on the string and use your fingers to work it in then wipe off excess. I tend to wax it even when not shooting about every week.
  • Question: Could u use as rail lube?

    Answer: Allen makes good stuff but this is hard to spread I would pick another one in a tube like chapstick.
  • Question: Do I wax the rail, strings, and cables? And do I just use my fingers to apply it?

    Answer: I've used this stuff for a long time. Good choice. By the rail, do you mean anything hard on the bow? Like metal? The answer is no. Yes to the strings and cables. You can use your fingers to apply this (I did for years), but rubbing it in and heating it up can leave a minor burn. Instead, you can use anything from an old T-shirt or towel to a piece of thin leather, like chamois or suede. The idea is to heat up the wax so it softens and gets down into the string and cable fibers, and doesn't burn your fingers. How often you do this depends on how much you shoot. A lot of folks say after 500 arrows. I don't bother counting; I just do it once or twice a month. My last compound string lasted 6 years.
  • Question: Can you use this wax to wax the crossbow as well as the string?

  • Question: How can you dry it? Can you use a hair dryer to dry the string instead of using a paper sack?

    Answer: It's wax, so it doesn't actually dry. The object is to get the wax down deep between the string fibers. There are folks out there who use hair dryers, set on LOW and used very carefully. Remember, those string fibers are plastic and can melt. For me, it's just as easy and fast to do it by hand with an old T-shirt or piece of thin leather.
  • Question: Is this wax silicone based?

    Answer: It doesn't say if it has silicone in it or not. I bought this for a friend in trade for paying on my computer he bought. You can google it to see what all is in it.
